Stops in different centers of the island for “I Suoni dell’Anima”

Churches and basilicas of Sardinia welcome the choir of the Teatro Lirico of Cagliari, directed by Giovanni Andreoli.

With the evocative title “I Suoni dell’Anima” (The sounds of the soul) and with the accompaniment on the organ by Salvatore Spano, a tour will start which will visit various centers on the island.

The first appointment is on Tuesday 18 April at 7 pm, in the church of the Virgin of Nazareth and of San Giovanni Paolo II in Muravera.

Five pages of excellent and famous sacred music will be performed: Missa secunda pontificalis by Lorenzo Perosi; Ave verum corpus K. 618 by Mozart; Ave Maria by Bach-Charles Gounod; Song of Jean Racine op. 11 by Gabriel Faure; Messiah HWV 56: Handel’s Hallelujah.

The concert will be repeated on April 19, at 8 pm, in the church of Santa Giusta in Uta; on the 20th in the great hall of the Archbishop’s Seminary in Cagliari; on the 21st in the Basilica of Santa Giusta; on the 22nd in the church of San Pietro in Assemini; on the 24th in the Cathedral of San Pantaleo in Dolianova; on the 26th, but at 7.30 pm, in the Basilica of Sant’Antioco; on the 27th in the Sanctuary of Santa Greca in Decimomannu; on the 28th (at 5 pm) in the great hall of the Pontifical Theological Faculty of Sardinia in Cagliari; on the 29th (at 8.30 pm) in the church of Sant’Eulalia in Cagliari; on May 2 in the church of Sant’Efisio in Capoterra; on the 3rd in the Cathedral of San Pietro Apostolo in Terralba; on the 4th in the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in Cagliari.

“The sounds of the soul” is part of the “An Island of Music 2023” project, an opera review hosted in various centers of Sardinia. Organized with the patronage and collaboration of the dioceses and municipalities concerned, the cycle of concerts intends to enhance some of the most beautiful churches, basilicas and places of worship on the island with a musical proposal of a sacred or religiously inspired nature.
