Andrea Padova

ANDREA-PADOVA

Andrea Padova, First Prize Winner of the “J.S.Bach Internationaler Klavierwettbewerb” in 1995, is since then considered one of the most innovative interpreters of Bach music. Harold C. Schonberg acknowledged his “strong personality, conviction, freedom, and style” and according to the Washington Post his performance of the Goldberg Variations “conveys the sense of successfully exceeding the limits of human possibility.”

He has concertized throughout the world, appearing in such major venues as Teatro alla Scala in Milan, Musikverein in Vienna, Carnegie Hall in New York, Gasteig in Munich, Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall. His recordings have been internationally appreciated: from J.S.Bach’s Fantasies (“Best of 1997” – CD Classics) to “Bach & Busoni” (Gramophone), to J.S.Bach’s “Goldberg Variations”, of which Fanfare wrote: “beautiful tonality and emotionally sensitive playing, superb poise of the interpretation”.

With the cd “Landscape in Motion” Andrea Padova since 2006 also presents himself as a composer-interpreter. His “accessible, freewheeling style that shows influences from Bach to Keith Jarrett” (New York Times) has been appreciated also by the San Francisco Examiner that, about the “Preludes & Interludes”, wrote: “the inventive voice of Padova is definitely his own. Pleasantly intriguing “.
