The piano of the great american composer George Gershwin has come in Panicale, small medieval village in Umbria near Lago Trasimeno. The current owner is Dalia Lazar, croatian pianist who bought the “Steinway” four years ago in New York. The piano had been bought in 1989 in Pescara by Leopold Godowsky III, nephew of Gershwin. “Piano brought me here in Italy – Lazar says – I was dreaming to place it in a special location. And that’s it“.
The piano is now in Chiesa di Sant’Agostino, home of Museum of Tulle. It is possible to visit it (More information)
Il pianoforte del grande compositore americano George Gershwin è approdato a Panicale, piccolo borgo medievale dell’Umbria, nei pressi del Lago Trasimeno. L’attuale proprietaria è Dalia Lazar, pianista croata che ha acquistato lo Steinway quattro anni fa a New York. Il pianoforte era stato comprato nel 1989 a Pescara da Leopold Godowsky III, nipote di Gerswhin, ed era in possesso della moglie. “E’ stato il pianoforte a condurmi in Italia e non viceversa – spiega la Lazar – Sognavo da tempo di collocarlo in un luogo speciale ed eccoci qui”.
Il pianoforte si trova nella Chiesa di Sant’Agostino che è anche la sede del Museo di Tulle. E’ possibile visitarlo.
